How to Become a Real Estate Appraiser in Idaho

Idaho Trainee Real Estate Appraiser

Basic Requirements: Must be 18 years or older and submit a completed application
Training Requirements: None
Education Requirements: 75 hours of qualifying education courses

Idaho Licensed Residential Appraiser

Basic Requirements: Must be 18 years or older and submit a completed application
Training Requirements: 2,000 hours of experience in no fewer than 12 months
Education Requirements: Beginning January 1, 2015, hold an Associate’s Degree or higher from an accredited college or university or document the successful completion of thirty (30) semester hours of college-level education. An applicant may receive semester hour credit for credits earned through the College-Level Examination Program (CLEP) provided that the accredited college or university accepts the CLEP and issues a transcript for the exam; 150 hours of qualifying education courses

State Required Test: Yes

Idaho Certified Residential Appraiser

Basic Requirements: Must be 18 years or older and submit a completed application
Training Requirements: 2,500 hours of experience in no fewer than 24 months
Education Requirements (updated):  On or after January 1, 2015, hold a Bachelor’s Degree or higher from an accredited degree-granting college or university; 200 hours of qualifying education courses
Fee: $250.00
State Required Test: Yes

Idaho Certified General Appraiser

Basic Requirements: Must be 18 years or older and submit a completed application
Training Requirements: 3,000 hours of experience in no fewer than 30 months
Education Requirements: Hold a Bachelors Degree or higher from an accredited college or university or document successful completion of no less than thirty (30) college semester credit hours in English Composition, Micro Economics, Macro Economics, Finance, Algebra, Geometry or higher mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, and Business or Real Estate Law, and two (2) elective courses in accounting, geography, ag economics, business management, or real estate; 300 hours of qualifying education courses
Fee: $250.00
State Required Test: Yes
